Should I include side venture on resume?

Working as an IC in FANG, however I have cofounded a business with a friend and it is still in ealry stages (registered on blind using the side business address). Have an offshore development team, I mostly architect and manage somewhat. Got angel funded at about $2M valuation. We have a few customers as well who are using the product. Experience wise this has been the most exhilarating one, pitching to VCs, talking to potential customers, and also designing and developing a real product from scratch. It is not making much money, and all the money generated is being plowed back in further development. I cannot leave my job to work on it full time. But since this is AI and ML application within a product, it has good potential. I am planning to move to management but not at the place where I am working currently(I have not disclosed my other venture). I am planning on applying to some other FANG and UL etc, should I include my experience as cofounder of this side venture? Or will it be taken as negative? TC 325K.

Just shift it in time. Say you worked on that in the past

Not sure how the company would view a passive partner in a startup.

Then why include it at all if it’s not a job but investment?

I think I would have alarm bells hiring someone who is passionately following his career dreams outside the company he is working for. I would keep it on the DL unless done in the past and gone.

Well depends if adding it to ur resume provides any direct substantial value to the role you are applying. Else better keep it on the side .. For reasons mentioned above . resume should only contain content that would help the hiring team decide on the candidature for the role you are applying ..

Yes, I am planning to move to management, so this is very relevant.

I am in HR and I advise that you keep it off of your resume. Matter of fact don’t mention it to your current or future colleagues. If it becomes successful exit out of the 9-5 to focus on your venture but there’s no reason in divulging anything and putting yourself through unnecessary legal paperwork from your present employer or future employers.

You should do “I’m in HR, AMA”

There are some very good opportunities (high paying as well) at the management level at FANGULL etc. Once I blend my technical knowledge with management then I stand a good chance of getting an offer.
