Did any of you have idea about Nio onsite interview process ? Any suggestions for interview preparation are helpful...
Would you mind letting us know about the role youโre being interviewed for ?
CEO
A few opennings at San Jose office. NIO is doing pretty good in China compared to other competitors.
It really depends on role, department, and team. For general SWE it was pretty easy interview: data types, sorting, string operations, regex, OOP, handling of binary data. A lot of soft skills questions of course.
Any drove a nio before?
Our hiring standards are way higher than that of Facebook and Google. We hire only the best and nothing but the best. We have technical geniuses as CEO, VPs, Directors, and Tech Leads. Our VP of Autonomous Driving, Jamie taught Elon Musk how to drive a car when he moved to California from University of Pennsylvania. Our cars make Porsche cars look like Toyota Corolla. We donโt even drive on roads, we just levitate and nature moves our cars forward.
Then why did you lay off entire self driving teams?
Because we have computers developing algorithms for our autonomous driving technology. We donโt need humans anymore to develop our cars. These cars are so advanced now that they have started taking coffee, smoke, and crack breaks in the middle of the working day shirking work as much as possible. We are the next EV on all kinds of drugs.
What is the role that you are interviewing for?
I worked there for 11 months. Thatโs a really short time. Not even long enough to vest any stock. Hint - itโs not because itโs a good place.
Any regrets now?
Donโt waste your time with NIO !
Are you still with NIO?
Had one interview with NIO a month ago. Easy to say the worst interview experience ever. The manager didnโt really know anything about automotive standards and protocols but pretended to be some kind expert. If you have a better choice do not choose NIO.
Isnโt Nio going down ? Why are you going there?
They had zero layoffs during the current covid19 crisis, landed a $1b funding deal and their vehicle production went up 180% YoY (yup their manufacturing lines are running). There are worse places to go than NIO right now such as Uber, Lyft, AirBnB, Yelp.....
As long as Jesus is with you. Youโll be ok
