Especially as a hypochondriac who always self-diagnoses himself with the worst cancers found via Dr.Google and WebMD. Even though its stastistically improbable given that I’m in my 20’s, but what if...what if... Gotta wait till Tuesday to find out wtf is wrong with me. /rant
Have you tried not being a hypochondriac?
How?
Next time you think you have a deadly disease, say to yourself "I am being a hypochondriac and most likely there is nothing wrong with me".
From your last lab/blood test how many parameters were out of range?
Its been 4 years since my last blood test, but the only thing that was out of range was glucose, fasting. Everything else was fine.
Great! Do you ask your doctor lots of questions and they respond? Do they get annoyed if you express concerns which they think are okay? My observation is doctors don’t usually give/advice proactively unless there’s a big concern.
Wow till Tues?? The horror! I once had to wait 6mo for a specialist, got impatient and found another with 2mo wait. Nothing out of the ordinary either, that location just lost a doc and hadn't hired a replacement.
Why do you have to wait? What country are you in?
The US
Do you not have insurance? Doctors are available 24/7. Does amazon have them onsite?
Keep a doctor on retainer.
I hate waiting too, especially because in India I could get tests done myself or get specialist appointment same day (if willing to sit for an hour or so) and here it’s sometimes weeks.
Can always go to a walk in clinic.
Google how many wrong diagnoses happen and how often. What if, after the long wait, your doctor misdiagnoses you as being healthy and sends you home when in fact you actually do have cancer? Think about that possibility and panic more.
Trust me I’ve read plenty of those stories. Sometimes even if the doctor says I’m fine, I’m still skeptical.
