Joining Audible soon. Below is my starting numbers. Joining at Audible L9 ~ L5-L6. Base: 170k Sign on: $60k (1st year only) RSU: $180k vesting over 3 years at 33% per year. TC: $290k YOE: 8 years Question is, my 2nd year salary would be $60k less as sign on would go away. Does Audible give refreshers such that I can maintain my TC at around $290 for next year?

L5 SDM at 15 YOE does this sound ok ? They interviewed me for l6 but they are saying L5 sdm will be more favourable
L5 and L6 are broad roles. While L6 usually have more number of years than L5. , it doesn’t have to be the case. I have seen L6 with 6 years experience and L5 with 12 years experience. In the interview the performance matters more than experience. At 15 years, definitely joining at L6 would make more sense. But you can join at L5 and work towards getting promoted to L6. L5-L6 promo is hard, but if you really put a lot of effort you can get promoted in 1-2 years after joining. The downside is, a L5-L6 promo may not give as much salary bump as compared to joining directly at L6.

That is a hard sell ! Assuming 33% of my $170k stocks, I will be getting $55k stocks every year. With $0 refresher, Stock price has to double for me to compensate for my sign in bonus!
