what is the total compensation at mathworks for senior engineers with 10+ yoe? this is for the natick office.
A friend of mine works there and he said it’s not the place to be for $$$
Compared to which alternative - academic post in mathematics, or quant at Rentec?
Compared to other sr eng roles
Won’t pay more than 100 to 140 k
Wow that’s really low. One guy on here from math works mentioned he got 150k TC with 5 yoe which while not great seems more in line with the market. Maybe they are trying to update pay but being slow about it?
Interesting
Maybe 130 if you're being hired into Senior developer role.
Go to Glassdoor and evaluate yourself. Put in your details and set City to Natick. Take the average and multiply by 1.05 and 1.10. The value you get is very close to the real base. Then add 20 to 30 k in bonus per annum. That would be TC. Hope this helps.
I mostly agree with this. Glassdoor is fairly accurate but take into account the values are historically weighted. Bonus is 10% to 20% for your average engineer in my experience. That said, at least a few years ago, mw was very aggressive in down leveling. A masters plus 5 years does not necessarily make you a senior engineer. I hated it when it happened to me but in retrospect they were right.
Multiply by 1.10? Does that mean they’re aiming for the bottom 55% of the talent pool? You might get 30k in bonus if you’re good, but only after prving your worth for about three years.
it's low TC and you'll be commuting way longer if you already live around Cambridge
How are they getting talent? Are they lowering the bar a lot and fielding a roster of scrubs and bush leaguers?
Mostly, in addition to the odd talented me or ee new grad who is passionate about the tools. Many of them leave pretty quick though.
don't expect any quarterly bonus in the first year. To get good bonus you need to stay at least 2-3 years.
> 180k and <220k. I know folk with 5 yoe between 155k and 165k. These numbers are based on if you grew continuously within Mathworks. I am not sure how it works when people come from outside.
Interesting I spoke to the recruiter sometime back and she wasn’t willing to go above 120k for a management role
What do you mean by Management? Dev manager?
Do you know how much to expect for senior application engineer at Texas location for PhD+8 yoe?
