ML/DL interviews

For those who went through/know the process, were you asked to solve typical leetcode problems along with ML* specifics? I've noticed some companies do require it while others focus only on applied math and ML questions. So I wondered if the former is more prevalent. One does still need to know complexity well to write optimal algo implementations however the ML part already occupies and demands so much mentally and timewise and it's also a complete different animal than common swe. Thanks!

Yes there are coding interviews. The number of such rounds depends on the company and level you interview at. Also you might be asked to code up some portion of an ML algo, e.g., code for making a split in a decision tree.

Unless you apply to pure research teams (brain, fair, etc) - for which you need considerable industry recognition, i’m afraid it’s the former. Coding interviews outweigh ml/dl at bigger companies.
