I received an offer from lyft as an SWE T5. I don’t think I can get much better TC for that level. I’m slightly concerned about the current status and the risks that lyft is facing at the moment. I’m not a big fan of the new comp structure that limits potential growth. Having said all that, the team seem to have good technical challenges and good visibility. What is the atmosphere right now? How are refreshers at lyft? Lyft offer: Year 1: 420k + 90k sign on(20k cash, 70k stock) Currently SDE 3 (promoted last quarter) TC 380k (using current stock price)
Move to Lyft but keep looking have a backup offer which lasts for at least 6 months.
Backup offer? Brutal for the backup company.
Top companies fight for talent, sometimes they are willing to wait, esp big comp that hiring all year around.
Do it man. Just keep your leetcode chops on.
TC is good but if you can get something similar at others companies, don’t go.
Yoe? how many at Amazon
6 & 1.5
E-commerce is growing, ride sharing is plummeting. Wouldn't be surprised if another layoff round comes before eoy and they can be quite random (not at all perf related) Stay at Amazon.
With the 120k extra $ on first year, I can still buy amazon and shopify stock.
I like OP idea
Lyft TC is too good to be ignored. Worth taking a risk.
Given Amazon's stock rise, the difference in TC would be negligible in about a year's time. Also lyft stock has performed pretty bad over the last year. Join lyft if you think work is more interesting. TC seems almost the same, stability is a negative though.
What's the breakdown
What’s your immigration status? If that’s not an issue, it is totally worth taking the risk.

It is a blessing…
Gf works at Lyft. They randomly have layoffs so not sure if you want to be in that position. Given that they’re still hiring though, it may not be so bad.
We do not randomly have layoffs. There was one round of layoffs. All others you may refer to may be PIP issues
Sorry, I misspoke. I just meant to say there’s a lot of uncertainty. She’s in HR and worries every now and then about what’s going to happen. I’d rather be confident I’m not going to be laid off than to have that fear given your industry is hit hard.
