Which video/tv streaming service will survive ?

Netflix, Disney, hulu, Apple TV, google, HBO, Peacock, Verizon Discovery, AMC+ Paramount Plus, Amazon video, Roku, Tubi, …. This is insane and low efficient. There should be only one or two dominating the market in the coming future, others will go bankrupted or be taken over. Which one do you think will survive ? Multiple choice

Google? Are you talking about YouTube?

Microsoft 📎🤖🌎🌌☠️ Jul 28, 2022

Is it insane? Now you get to pay for exactly what you want versus the old cable days where you had to buy expensive bundles to get what you wanted and a bunch of stuff you didn’t. THAT was insane.

And all without dumb proprietary cable boxes too. What a leap forward

Have you heard of things like YouTube TV, Hulu Live, etc.? Those bundles & packages are still around. Just in a different form now.

I feel like not having netflix is illegal so they have that first movers advantage apple has unlimited money, they can compete forever if they want to Disney fans will pay anything for a disney product The rest is going to be a warzone

Lots of people canceling Netflix these days

Companies with revenue coming from other areas of their business (like Disney, Amazon, etc) will survive, but companies that are pure streaming only (Netflix) will either fail or be acquired.

What about one master interface, so you can sign up for some or all of these services and scroll through their offerings in a centralized place? Kind of like how you can click through a channel guide on cable and add speciality channels, sports packages, etc as you see fit. The master interface could be a nonprofit so no one service controls it.

Experian superfrog Jul 28, 2022

people dont want to scroll through all those channels in a linear search with everything side by side they want things bundled by interest with a good ui that makes sense for that bundle the cable box ui has been reviled for like 20 years now

Sure, doesn’t have to use the cable ui, but I think the option to sign up all in one place would concentrate users and be good for the streamers who have unique content.

Apple, Amazon, and Google have unlimited money so wither through any storm

Apple moolah Jul 28, 2022

Apple will buy everything

McKinsey axcyuin Jul 28, 2022

Hulu will probably be absorbed into Disney since the majority of their content is outsourced and companies will pull their content off Hulu to add it to their on streaming platforms

Disney Streaming Services GranRaton Jul 28, 2022

Hulu content is already slowly absorbed into Disney+

Netflix DontLookUp Jul 29, 2022

Netflix is the only profitable streaming service
