Pretty bummed. I had great rapport with the team and skip manager. Got through all the rounds prior to HRBP, only for the role to close as the HM had to reconfigure the JD. It was a 3-1 role, with options to be in the Bay Area or Singapore. Did things get messier since I left TT? Also—base salary on LinkedIn isn’t the actual range? Same thing happened to me. Full PM interview loop only for them to change the JD and require relocation to San Jose which I wasn’t willing to do. I did some background research with a former colleague who is working in PM at TikTok. From what she told me it is pretty toxic. Forget advancement if you don’t speak Mandarin and are not ethnically Chinese. All technical docs and many meetings are held in Chinese. Also forget WLB if you value your evenings. Prepare to work around Beijing’s schedule as that is still where most engineering and senior leadership sit. Finally, expect others to steal projects or take credit for your work I think we both dodged a bullet.
That’s rough. For me it was the other way—promised San Jose but moved to Singapore “with lots of opportunity to travel to the US!” Not keen on SG comp with US taxes.
