I keep hearing conservatives say that the U.S. navy protects China’s maritime trade. The argument is that China is freeloading off American protection without which China’s trade would collapse. So who is the US navy protecting China’s trade from? And do supporters of this believe that China needs a strong navy to protect its own trade and give the US navy a break? Also does China owe the US a bill for that protection?
That’s not correct. China has the world’s second most powerful navy, they don’t need anyone to protect them. The American navy protects free trade for all the other nations that use the South China Sea — protects them from China.
So if the U.S. navy wasn’t there, China would stop others from trading? How exactly does the U.S. protect free trade from China? Is the concern that China would seize others merchant ships? Has that ever happened? Is the U.S. protecting free trade when it seized merchant ships at sea, eg Chinese, Iranian, Russian, Syrian, Venezuelan and North Korean ships?
China has used fleets of civilian ships to harass and bully other nations’ vessels before
The U.S. Navy is protecting U.S. interests.
Please read about what the US is doing in the South China Sea. They’re trying to inhibit China doing fuck shit as much as possible. Chinese navy can protect its own interests

Not really, since China had to deploy their own base in Djibouti to counter pirates
Blaming others for one's own issues is a basic skill for politicians. They are just doing their job properly. Congratulations!
Not sure, but China is our No.1 enemy
And No.1 trading partner
No China is not no.1
