Why is the GC queue for chinese nationals (2020) much shorter than Indians (2012) for EB-2 and EB-3 currently? Do chinese nationals not tend to apply for GC and prefer to go back to their home country? Or are they just not really interested in waiting for a long time and just go back?
Because more than 80% of IT and tech is occupied by Indians. 10% to 20% is rest of the world and china
Also China is a much better functioning country, so maybe they have more reasons to stay?
Check which country has the highest ratio of h1b visa, and imagine all those people applying for gc
I'm Taiwanese but from my experience, I've seen no few of my Chinese colleagues quit and go back to China for opportunities at Alibaba, Tencent, etc. Seems life back in the old country has gotten much better and the desire to stay in the US isn't as strong as it was 20-30 years ago.
Most likely similar reasoning for why Europeans are not flocking here en masse.
By Taiwanese, you mean Republic of China, according to wiki
You need to get hired first in h1b and win the h1b lottery to be able to proceed to the eb1 and eb2 category. But there are so many Chinese or east asian people everywhere in the US.
It is harder for them to get H1B
Chinese are not as crazy as indians. Like jumping queues from EB2 to eb3
Actually, Chinese were the pioneers of jumping from eb2 to eb3 when dates for eb3 China advanced over eb2 China in 2018 and 2019. π Jokes aside, there are no fukton Chinese software professionals get through h1b like indians do. Hence the shorter queue.
