I’ve worked in hospitals and in retail as a pharmacy technician for the [almost] past six years. I want to make more money and I know this is possible. What skills would I need to blend my passion for technology and healthcare? What routes can I go to make it possible? What is the timeline needed to acquire these skills? What jobs are available that align with my interests? Thank you for all your CONSTRUCTIVE input. #techcareer #healthcare #pharmacy
Hey! I work in biotech and just landed a job in Boston at a startup; Best advice especially in Boston is to work with a recruiter, they work on commission and they want as much money as possible so if they find you a permanent job they’ll be in your best interest! But whatever you do make sure you’re happy; if you like being in a pharmacy I suggest working at a specialty pharmacy or for startups like capsule or other new pharmo-bio-tech spheres!
Biomedical engineering is a great an a growing field! You would need a bachelors though
There's a lot of analytics work going on in pharmacy, specifically in supply chain. A lot of opportunities for DS/ML application if you want to use any of your background.
I know someone who switched from being a fully licensed pharmacist to tech. He hates pharmacy and was paid less than he is now. He went to a bootcamp, graduated, struggled for a year to get his first job but finally made it.
Plus 1 on bootcamp. I graduated from bootcamp and my first tech job was at bio rad. Entry level salary is higher than most other non-tech fields (depending on company), but there will be a cap as you move in seniority. My starting pay straight out of college was $90k in 2019, but I know my Srs with 10-15years exp are capped around $180k max. There are so many tech jobs available in the healthcare field, but I had 0 interest in healthcare. I switched jobs to cloud security for better interest and higher pay.
