I’ve got what I think is a very strong background from leading a few startups to acquisition and working at Apple and Google. Have had Meta and Microsoft recruiters reaching out proactively as well. I’ve applied to a few roles at nVidia that seem perfect but continue to get the canned auto responder email Is the hiring bar just next level? What am I doing wrong :) #nvidia
Nvidia hiring like Apple is nepotism based. Look at the demographics of the company. You will understand. Unless you know the hiring manager your online applications will end up in a dump. Nvidia like Adobe was a tier 3 company for SWEs all these years. It's just off late with the stock surge and layoffs elsewhere the company has entered the FAANG league. It's external offers still dwarfs the likes of FAANG.
Good summary
If you have any experience in technical computing (DoE type), should be fairly easy to get in. All the guys I know at Nvidia were in this area / firmware / kernel drivers earlier. Only exception was a friend who did port some API for video games as an intern and has continued that sort of work for the last 10y.
What is DoE?
Department of Energy, the folks who do weapon design, simulation, etc..
NVDA so hot right now, you need referrals/warm intros.

Biden meant “illegal” immigrants, right?
Nothing particular about NVDIA, just the job market. They’re also not huge in software. I passed my phone interview with flying color, then they cancelled my interview because they lost headcount
Few days before my phone interview, I was told the position was moved overseas so the US role was canceled
