Starting this week my family will be off for a summer break to meet our extended families and i will be joining them after 50 days. I have been trying multiple things but nothing worked out so far for my dream Full Stack SWE role (Like this one: Software Development Engineer, Full Stack, EXPAND https://www.indeed.com/viewjob?from=appshareios&jk=8b2d77fe709b7955). Right now i am a QA Automation Engineer with a CS degree, writing scripts in Java and soon in Kotlin/XCUIT. I was a SWE sometime back then due to visa etc i switched role to QA Automation, from that day on I have this guilt inside me that I killed my education, career and chances to earn more for quick bucks. Now that i forgot all Tech Stack etc. Only thing i have with me is CS fundamentals, OS, Networking & OOPs (Java, JS), plus my CS Engineering degree and masters specialization is in IT with AI/Robotics. I wanna feel good and be back in the game, for once and all 😊😍😊 My USP is that i can learn new Tech quickly and adept to the changing Env, my weakness is that i try to plan too many things and then fail at all of them, plus i procastinate a lot. I have couple of ideas in my mind (all this along-with my full time remote job, hardly need to put 2-3hrs/day in the job): 1) Spend 3 weeks on learning about: HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, React, Node, Express, Mongo & AWS. After that start giving interviews (tons of calls in FinTech/Tech but i have low confidence and failure anexiety, i wanna remove that). 2) 2 weeks LC easies, 2 weeks LC Med and last 3 weeks LC Hard, i solved 100 easies last year but then again ran out of steam so switched back to something else. 3) 4 weeks fix up Data Structures fundamentals then start with LC, true i cant work on LinkedList barely passed in my DS exam. I carry lots of mix experience for support and product dev but I wanna reboot and ready to start as SWE, using core DS fundamentals. What do you suggest, i should do? I see a lot of people voting option 2 but 3 weeks on LC hard after only doing 2 weeks LC medium isn’t that beneficial since you’ve mainly focused on easy last year. Focus more on mediums.
Sounds good 👍
Only LC mediums, maybe just one week for LC hard
Gotchu
Prereqs: know data structures Week1: 3 easies a day Week2: 2 easies 1 medium a day Week3: 2 mediums a day Week4: 3 mediums a day Week5: 1 medium 1 hard (Maybe two hards a day at somepoint)
Love you Thabks Buddy 😍✌️
I got you fam. I’m in the thick of it too week 4 was hard as hell for me personally. I’m also aiming for overkill; going to throw epi in the mix 🤝🏽
If you like the QA mindset, switching to SDET is a nice option too.
Nope, I am always in an SWE mindset, am gonna come back in that role.
Have you thought about trying for backend dev roles? Less learning curve on the tech stack, that gives you more time to focus on LC and system design. Once in, it's really easy to convert to a full stack dev as lines are really blurred.
Interesting never thought on that lines 👍
Same here. Even though I have masters degree is CS, I am working as a Network engineer, which sucks tbh. I want to become a Full Stack SWE. I am wasting my degree and knowledge.

Have had many team members throughout career switch internally from qa to swe. Maybe it's an option for you
Thank you Buddy my recent call is from Google for the SWE role, I am not quite ready for this but I buy in some time to prep and try.
