Came across this: https://www.businessinsider.com/spotify-unveils-new-remote-work-option-for-all-employees-2021-2. Is it for real or just a marketing tool like Facebook’s that when you interview they tell you that you need to relocate?
Existing employees keep their salaries. New ones likely will get a modified offer. Regarding remote work, I believe it. My team is already dispersed around the US and we’re all remote. Working in another country will subject you to different income and tax rules tho.
So new employees make more than existing ones? How does the global salary work? I assume that EU employees make a lot less than US ones.
Its not a global salary. Country adjusted and not all countries allowed at first, but someone in NYC would be making the same as someone living in the backwoods of Mississippi
will remote offers include opportunities to travel to offices when things are leas shit?
You can always do it by your own pocket, only if required by a good reason it will be a business trip.
yes it’s real
And how do “salaries like NY or SF” work? AFAIK Stockholm salaries are very low. Will they raise them globally?
I expect there will be per-country bands - Stockholm salaries have never had anything to do with US compensation, more than half the company has been US based for a while. The key thing is if you decide to go remote there will be zero downward adjustment unlike other companies.
referral please
Can anyone confirm if this is "work from anywhere where we already have payroll", or "work from literally anywhere"? From the articles I read the payroll locations do not come up anywhere, but I've heard so from other sources....
I’ve heard the same by a guy who works there, that they will be giving people the option. However I honestly don’t trust any of these companies that turned remote during COVID, I’m willing to bet that once the remote mania fades away they will change their mind.
