new grad amazon vs bloomberg

hi guys! finally wrapped up with my interviews. didn't go that well since the job market seems to be hot this year but i only ended up with two offers :( anyways, with the two offers i currently have, if you were to pick, which one would you go for?any idea of the amazon teams in the cupertino office (not aws)? amazon seems to have a better brand name and better location (bay with all those tech companies). but bloomberg's culture and training is a huge plus for me. people always talk about how bloomberg is not a tech company and it makes me think that it would not be a good place to start my career. im on f1 visa so i think job security is quite important? i do like california's weather better but not sure if its worth to join amazon purely for this reason. also i dont think im gonna stick with the sde path for too long and am considering switching to the PM route.feel free to drop some advice. also made a poll! amazon: bay area - cupertino office (not aws so im guessing lab126?) pay 148k base, 128k stock 5%/15%/40%/40%, 80ish k sign on (split in 2 years) bloomberg: nyc location pay 153k base, 22k bonus, 25k sign on in 2 years also want to know if anyone can share some info on bloomberg sf. recruiter mentioned it as an option but im not sure about the teams and the growth there #tech #software #amazon #bloomberg #newgrad

I’m not sure I agree. Bloomberg is a powerhouse and if you want to go into HF/VC/PE might be a more useful experience. They also have PM positions which can be nice exits into fin tech if that’s what you desire. Amazon does a lot of interesting things, especially lab126, but serious work life balance and culture issues. Got offers from both companies in the past and my impression was that Bloomberg interviewers were much higher quality vs. Amazon interviewers seemed unprepared, were literally reading from a script, did not have a good command of English and were not able to think outside of the box. One persons experience but hopefully helpful. Also, congrats on the offer I think these are nice numbers for a new grad

"only ended up with two offers" which both happen to be in HCOL six figure salaries lmao

What is your actual breakdown? The amazon sign on is usually over 2 years, and the stock vest is. 5, 15, 40, 40. The Bloomberg bonus is guaranteed.

updated it!

Your offers are close. I suggest Bloomberg as long as you don't mind office work. Amazon will probably keep trying to recruit you and then you come here with a better package. We are hiring a lot in NYC. Just don't stay at Bloomberg more than a few years unless you really love the 1980s.
