Hi! Can anyone provide some reviews for the WLB, WFH, TC at Squarepoint Capital in London (or Paris)? Up to 1 YOE.
1 day a week max WFH
… How so?!
This is pretty typical for quant firms in London these days - big emphasis on RTO with not much working from home offered.
Things non-quant SWEs don’t think about are: Y1 comp means nothing. What it gives you is a stepping stone into a PnL tied quant dev role in the future, access to a private, well performing internal fund only employees can access, Squarepoint will open a hell of a lot more doors than JP, Chase, etc.
That’s true. Thanks for the perspective! 🙏 However, Squarepoint is not the only good stepping stone into quant roles if you come as an SWE. It should also be noted that many SWEs don’t want to get into quant roles and are there for the good old software development role.
I didn’t say quant, I said quant dev :) But your right, finance is 100% not the only place to be a good old SWE on decent pay. If you want to lead tools and research technology development for a PM in electronic FX trading, for example, I’d take Squarepoint over Meta. If you want to solve AR problems, Meta. I’m more saying the first year comp and ability to work from home shouldn’t be your primary motivating factor.
Paris office is smaller but they have 35 day off per year + bank holiday. Also office food is great and they eat in an actual company restaurant, not at their desk like in London. London is the main office and you can have more impact here. I believe comp and WLB are similar in both location but taxes are higher in France.
Base in London will be ≈£70, plus bonus. Are you applying directly? Or via a 3rd party recruiter?
£70k without bonuses? Do you have know more about the bonuses and how they are offered? What about WFH?
WFH is 1 day a week, rest in the office
