For far too long, tech workers have been coddled, making irrational demands and contorting the very idea of business into something unsustainable. Now, they're reaping their bitter harvest. Employees demanded Netflix embraces virtual signaling social justice causes in its content--massive hit in users, layoffs, and they killed programs and revamped content. Google--hired overpaid recruiters to post their lives on TikTok with about 4 hours' worth of work a day, drawing the public ire of the biggest names in the VC space...laid off over 10,000 people. Coinbase employees file a petition to fire the CHRO and CFO. They laid off all those people who started that petition--and yes, they can do that, and they will. Making demands for job security--you own that yourself. Consistent performance is psychological safety. They can quit you just like you can quit them so don't give them a reason to. On-site doctors, dry cleaning, free meals, feigning ignorance the rest of the country exists in their Reels--for some so worldly many are ignorant about how most of the country lives and works. And the chest beating and screaming at the sky righteous indignation of the younger employees, who feel entitled to say anything to anyone, gives the company license to fire them. Companies are legally obligated to put shareholder interests above all else--if you doubt that fact, crack a book. Want to survive a layoff--1, offer to do more. Yes, that means ask your boss for more work. 2, endear yourself to your HR team and add to the culture; never be the leader of the unhappy people who complain about any and everything. 3, leave your social justice for your personal life. HR and executives love to fire the trouble-makers. You're a destructive distraction they don't want. 4, own your career, and don't expect your manager to hand you promotions. Write a development plan on one page for yourself and give it to your manager to review. 5, If you get asked to come back to the office, shut up and do it. No, taking care of your emotional support sugar glider isn't going to get you out of it. 6, Contrary to some of the spectacularly stupid advice on Blind, CEOs of mid to larger tech companies do not care what you think if it's a complaint. They do care what you think if it's a solution. Never bring problems. Bring solutions and ideas. 7, There's never been a single meta-analysis completed showing diversity adds to company value and better performance. Stop saying you have proof that it does. It's annoying. 8, Don't talk about how busy you are. That's the first red flag that you're actually not busy, and executives and HR pick up on it right away--if you have time to talk about how busy you are, you're not busy. 9, they will find out if you work a second job or are lazy. They access your calendar, your Slack, and monitor your activity. You aren't owed a severance if you get fired for it and don't expect a reference. Be prepared for a negative one when your next employer calls a back-channel reference on your previous company, which they do all the time, especially as you move up. 10, Learn our company's basic financial statements (there are 3). If you don't, you're lazy, and don't expect to be promoted beyond Director, ever. You clearly didn't take the time to learn the basics of your own business.
take a seat and wait your turn for that unemployment check.
Someone’s jelly 🤣👉🥵🥾
Nothing is completely right or wrong but yes, companies should look out for themselves in the long run and so should we:)
you do realize you ARE the company...a company exists on paper, that's it. this whole "they are the company...we are not." it's one in the same. you are the company, you're in it, you're on the payroll, you're an active and willing participant. be part of it, or go work for yourself.
While I’m working there, yes I am very much a part of the company but if I am not growing there, I need to look for a better one or start my own
Layoffs or not, people should learn to format bullet points ffs.
lol. nice retort
This
Bro formatting... If this is how you communicate at work... You're next 🤦
Na. He’s Jelly Janitor James, as long as he can handle a mop, his job’s safe
Bro, nobody says "Bro" at work, bro. If you do, you're already unemployed, bro.
I'd imagine folks making analogous argument back during the Gilded Age about any laborers such as meat packers and chimney sweepers. How dare they expect safer and cleaner work conditions! How dare they expect days off to recuperate ! Companies are legally obligated fo put shareholders interests above all else! How dare they invest in their employees well being and safety! The working class should always try to get as much as they could out of their employers, just like the employers try to extort as much as they could out of their workers.
Quit acting you toil in the coal mines instead sitting in a chair sucking up free vegan meals
Shut up with this crap. Learn to write ffs.
"crap" LOL. such eloquence. Write that novel next!
