Zipline thoughts?
Just wondering, drone market which is a mixed bag for me on regulation and growth potential. Appears Zipline is focused on providing services to poor countries in Africa, which is great from a humanitarian point of view, unclear if that is generating enough revenue to grow or see the technology used elsewhere. Any thoughts on them, culture and environment? Business model sorta reminds me of a defunct X project we had here called Loon.
It seems to be super competitive. I recently interviewed and didn't pass the phone screen. It wasn't even technical, just a casual talk on what they do and what they're looking for.
So you got ghosted or the generic email that said thanks no thanks? I received one of those from a company that did not even ask for my resume and I had two zoom call screens. First with someone from HR second was with an engineer, wasn’t overly technical either. Seems like this is a thing now? Odds are they are cherry picking candidates who are coming from related companies. Red flag for me, thanks!
I got an email saying that they enjoyed the conversation and appreciated learning about my background BUT they had decided I was not a perfect fit. No coding and not really a technical discussion. My guess is that they had already gone with someone else. Which is fine.
Zipline has a contract with Walmart and already has operations in the US. It is not just serving the Africa market, but has a very good product market in Africa.
I got through 3 rounds and didn’t pass the final one. They said they decided to move on with someone else which is fine with me. This is the second time they reached out to me. Guess three times is a charm?

Hey OP - do recommendations increase chance of receiving an offer inside the company?
Had an offer from them last year. I would have joined instead of joining Google but the pay was too less.
How was the interview process?
great mission, terrible management. selfish people.
