Hello, I recently got an offer from Ubisoft Winnipeg, the pay is bit low, however, considering the cost of living would be bit lower I am thinking about taking it, I always wanted to do gaming/physics etc & the position is closer to what I always wanted to work upon. Does anyone have ideas about wlb in Ubisoft, specifically if you are at Winnipeg studio as well as kind of challenges they face. #gaming #ubisoft #tech #winnipeg
Aren't gaming companies generally notorious for their crazy crunch periods?
I rather crunch a bit than spend time doing shitty stand-ups and meetings
Not Ubisoft, but I worked there for 2 years before leaving. But beware, you won't get far careerwise without speaking french. You have been warned. Big favouritism toward french workers. Pm for more info
I can tell you about Winnipeg (I'm from there originally), but no intel on Ubisoft. You could live near their office but you don't want to (great area in the day, less safe at night). Houses go for a lot over asking right now, but $350k gets you a nice bungalow. You'd 100% need a car. Driving is a breeze compared to bigger cities, though has challenges in the winter. If you have heated indoor parking you'll barely even notice the cold (if you don't, make sure you have a good block heater and a CAA membership). Weather in the summer is hot. Cottages are literally 1 hour away. Mosquitoes aren't as bad as they used to be.
Cold, windy weather
Are you in/around the area
