Booz Allen question
Anyone here work for Booz Allen Hamilton or has worked with them before, how was it? Been offered two positions, while Booz Allen pays about 20k more, the other company pays for all my mendicant,dental, and vision for me and my spouse and seems to be more of an employee vibe while Booz seems like consulting/ staffing agency. Both are for cloud engineer but I just don’t know what to expect from Booz Allen when doing some searching it’s mixed reviews. My team that interviewed me said they had a contract already and would need my clearance. The other company is a small start up type so there’s no much feedback on them from employees anywhere. How is onboarding and training at Booz Allen? What happens if you’re on the bench, do you get paid ? Do you get let go if not picked up after a certain time frame? I asked the hiring recruiter this and waiting for them to get back to me just wondering if anyone has hands on experience. I had previously something else lined up but logistics didn’t work out so back on the market job hunting. TC 115k YOE <1Yr

If your contract ends they will either find a new project for you, or an internal research and development project (indirect) if there is a gap between contracts. It is very rare but not unheard of to be “on the bench” (on overhead not doing anything). There is high demand for cleared workers so it is unlikely to not find work, especially at a place that has many contracts like BAH. But yes, if there were no projects on the horizon that could use you you’d be let go, same as a commercial company. BAH’s brand is the polished contractor, suits required at HQ, old school. None of that stuff is going to matter to you 95% of the time. At most contractors like booz your team, direct manager, and your role will determine your daily job satisfaction, not the company as a whole.
