Netflix laid off 150 and there were 15k posts on LinkedIn within 3 hours. People are looking to create buzz out of anything
So let me get this straight. You wrote a post complaining about people making posts when they shouldn't have. Got it.
It's more than 83. They've been laying off around 100-200 weekly for the last few weeks (maybe so that there's no panic). Also looks like there are plans for more: https://www.siliconrepublic.com/business/paypal-cuts-jobs-ireland-dublin-dundalk https://www.protocol.com/bulletins/paypal-layoffs-continue "PayPal approved plans for a “strategic reduction of the existing global workforce" in 2020, and the company has spent $20 million to reduce its workforce — mostly to cover severance and employee benefits, according to Bloomberg. The company expects to spend $100 million more on restructuring, but said that cutting staff will end up saving the company $260 million a year." That being said, I see some teams are still hiring, so I don't think there's a widespread hiring freeze in place.
They laid off more, it’s not all in the news.
Think of those 83 and let them rant and maybe get referrals from blind, man.
PayPal's layoff does not seem significant unless you are the one let go, then it's huge. Have some empathy.
"That was only x percent". X percent of thousands of peoole is still a lot of people. If this inflation thing does not come down, we are going to see layoffs everywhere and it won't be pretty. And I have no clue how Global political instability will hit us either
The company is doing everything to reduce CAPEX. Since revenue is expected to decline in the coming quarters (people don’t like to spend in recessionary environment). Layoffs in areas which won’t reduce CAPEX (risk & ops). Hiring in area where we can reduce CAPEX (cloud/infra/devops).
We need a 6th post to complain about the 5. I can make a 7th to be meta and complain about this one if you'd like 😉
