How is the work culture at viasat? I have received a verbal offer for a mid level software engineer role. Any insights about wlb, mobility between teams, training and management would help. Thanks! YOE - 5 #software #softwareengineer #techcareer
I was at Viasat for 3 years until very recently. Wlb was always great but this has been declining. They recently moved to unlimited pto from already giving folks 3 weeks + 1 day a year. Movement between teams was great. I worked on several teams. There's lots of morale issues right now. Everyone is terrified about layoffs. Raises really sucked. Big brain drain going on especially with high performing ICs. HR astroturfs glassdoor. What's the T/C they're offering.
Can I dm for referral ?
No I don't work there anymore lol
I agree with all of the replies here but I must say that the work culture is just amazing. Very understanding people, great work life balance and always encourage you to grow your career. About the point on starlink crushing ViaSat - sure, the best case is they'll take away all of residential customers. But they are no way near providing service to planes. That is ViaSat's best shot right now.
WLB, really? You must not be working on a high pressure project.

Not sure about the company culture but I know Viasat will be toast once Elon's skylink is fully operational and widely available.
That’s there. But it will take sometime for that though.
