Time keeping system

Hi LC lovers, Please accept my ignorance for asking this question but asking for a friend of mine who is starting a recruiting business and he wants a web-based time keeping system like ADP where you clock in and out and at the end of the week you send the timecard to the manager for approval. For a very small company, ADP or Paychexs is expensive so he thinks getting someone to create something very simple would benefit him more. So he wants to know how much time and effort it takes to create something like that. Thanks for your insights. Can that be one of your Leetcodes to create one? Can make it as difficult as possible if you don't feel you're being challenged enough 😉 Thanks so much! TC: ?!?!?

Bit confused by what your asking. Is it that you want a system design for employees to track working/break time? Like where they clock in to start, then can take a maximum of 5 times between that and when they finish for the day? What do you want sent to the manager, a report summarizing the time spent working and the time on break? By money wise do you mean for like the pay for an hourly employee? This seems more like a vague system design problem rather than an algorithm problem.

I'm sorry for not being clear. I'll update the post as well. A friend of mine is starting a recruiting business and he wants a time keeping system like ADP where you clock in and out and at the end of the week you send the timecard to the manager for approval. For a very small company ADP or Paychexs is expensive so he thinks getting someone to create something very simple would benefit him more. Not clear what kind of app (web, mobile or desktop) and what features it would have exactly that would be better than just using a shared spreadsheet. Probably a couple days and a couple thousand dollars if you want to hire someone to make this. Too much work and not interesting enough to do for free.

Thank! I'll passon the message. Most time keeping systems that temp/recruiting agencies use are web based and seem to be very simple but then again idk how much time & effort & configuration is spent on them.

Actually it sounds like it will need server code and a database since it needs to "remember" the records. Also it will need user sign-in. At least 1 week of work imo for someone experienced. You could do something much simpler like have a google form that feeds data to google sheets. The main advantage of an app would be users couldn't lie (it would record the actual time they click a button).
