I’m looking to xfer to a European office in the next year or so (in order of preference: Zurich, London, Munich). My partner has < 1 YOE (just finished grad school) and is currently working as a data scientist at a non-tech company (think bank/insurance/telecom). How difficult will it be for them to find a role (DS, SWE, anything relevant really) in one of these cities? Are there any specific companies we should be looking at? Are some cities more friendly to foreign applicants? I’m thinking they will have trouble passing interviews at Meta, Google, etc. but they are working on leetcoding. We are US citizens and only speak English if that helps. YOE: 4 TC: 450k #europe #zurich #london #datascience
I think your best bet is London. English language and they have a lot of foreign workers. Also all European head quarters (Google, Apple, etc.) are in there.
In Zurich while you are on L permit (first 2 years, typically), your partner doesn’t have automatic right to work, which will make things more complicated. In London it would be much simpler.
