Returning I140 Perm cost to employer

My employer signed an agreement with me that if get laid off or leave the company during processing or within 1yr post approval of i140. I need to repay the 15 to 20k back to the employer. Is this legal ? #amazon #meta #google #godaddy #swe #tech

No. The green card process involves various steps where your employer needs to proof a need to bring foreigner to the US (meaning that they cannot find right expert in US labor market). It’s responsibility of employer to pay all state and legal fees involved in immigration process. They are not allowed to pass any fees to prospective permanent resident (green card holder) before, during or after process. You can bring them to court and say that they abuse US immigration system.
