Toptal freelance

Hi. After 5+ years at Spotify I’m contemplating a switch to freelancing for a while. I am based in Sweden and was wondering if there are any toptal freelancers frome europe or sweden who could give some insights. First, what is the average expected rate for freelancers from Europe (have 10+ yoe as a mobile eng (android/ios)? Second, what is the interview process compared to, say, faang interviews. Lastly, but very Swedish specific, would it be possible to work through personal AB?

Their recruiter is shady af. They pressure candidates to break NDA agreements in order to show 6 portfolio pieces. Either they go after people with fake use cases or very straightforward designs. I'm a system designer that works on very complex, proprietary experiences. Prepare yourself for condescending BS when talking with them. I passed as I'm not going to be bullied into breaking a legal contract. I love being told I'm not in the top 3% when I've worked at the top 1%....

If you have a full time job and making USD , doing freelancing would be stupid. Been there, some that for 5 years and quit cause it’s a constant struggle to find and keep long term clients and compete with people charging $10/hour

Toptal takes 50% for an introduction. Just do a google search and search for the word contract and double your money.

If you have real good experience you may be able to charge $65, I find that the max rate you’d be able to charge to get constant work, charging $75 means less constant work but you may still find clients willing to pay you the rate. If you mean you want to do it and get paid as a company you can, they pay me to my company account (not as individual)
