Hi everyone, I recently received two job offers and would appreciate your insights to help me decide which one is a better fit for my first role out of college, as an aspiring UX Designer. 1st Company: Paycom Role: Product Design Internship, 3-month internship, housing compensation included, location: Oklahoma, potential for a full-time offer after internship, but I'm not keen on living or working in Oklahoma. TC: 35/hr. (would be leaving nyc for this) Personal thoughts: This opportunity is far from home and in an unfamiliar location. I'm considering a future in the fintech corporate world, but Paycom is based in Oklahoma. It might be an excellent learning experience, but given the current economic climate and job crisis, it seems risky in the long term. Paycom seems like a more up to date tech company that is offering me a mentor to guide my entire internship process. 2nd Company: Scholastic Role: Associate UX/UI Designer, Full-time position, TC: $77k (they gave me an initial offer of 77k but I just got off the phone and countered for 84-90k TC), Located near me in NYC (I live in Gramercy, the office is in Soho), Hybrid work style. Personal thoughts: This offer provides a full-time position in the current job market, and it's conveniently located close to where I live now. Downside is that scholastic is a publishing company, still big and well known but old corporate style and might be hard to push into big tech? However, my would be higher ups have worked on very large projects with other companies beforehand ex. bark box, copa airlines, nerd st gamers, and was a previous springboard mentor. I'm looking to understand which opportunity is better suited for my current situation and future career growth. Please share your thoughts and advice. Thank you! #design #interviews #ui/ux #JobOffer #OfferEvaluation #NewOpportunity
What exactly are you expecting to get here? 3-month internship in a shit hole location, or a full time role in NYC. Tough one.
An internship is not a job offer. Take scholastic.
We have a location in Dallas too. Not like NYC but way better than OKC. I would rather be jobless than in OKC. It’s depressing and toxic af
Can I DM? I have a sister who has been promised to be converted to a full time employee if she pushes her graduation date by taking up a few additional courses. Would you recommend trusting paycom for a full time offer? How is the stability within the company or chances of internship not being converted?
Afaik we do provide full time after intern to a lot of people. Job security is definitely high there. During the worst times, we received promotions and the promised bonuses on time. Our tech stack is kinda old. Although we have been trying to update, we pretty far behind. Idk where OP got up to date from.
