I came in through a bootcamp program partnership with Cognizant and have been making 25/hr for the last 1.5 years in NYC. It was supposed to only be a yr "apprenticeship" and then upgrade to 40/hr, but when companies started doing layoffs they basically pushed back things indefinitely. While Im labeled an "apprentice" I've been put in charge of interviewing and training new junior hires, who are making much more than me 🫠 I'm grateful for the opportunity but I'm literally living in poverty. Is it possible to get a backend dev job in NYC/NJ that's at least paying 40/hr without leetcode. I plan to start leetcoding seriousy soon, but my family and I need money now. My dad is sick and out of work so it's just me and mom's income holding us up 😮💨
You are being bamboozled. Fast food workers make $25/hr in NYC. But why not just practice leetcode and really bring in the dough?
Even the small startup I interned at offered $45/hr for full-time in a MCOL city
I'm so overworked and helping take care of my dad so it's been hard to stay consistent. I also felt like the market is bad so compared to comp sci grads me being a bootcamp grad wouldn't really hold up in this market to get a really good role at big tech. I was (stupidly) counting on being converted to the 40/hr role.
You can make more then 25/hr picking up papers off the printer in a gov job lol
Yeah I'm starting to understand how badly we were taken advantage of
I’ve never done a single LC in my life and make $268k all bass (OE)
What type of role?
