i am planning to leave my company and have a clawback associated with my contract. what has your experience been with clawbacks? how do they work? any knowledge specific to uber would be useful.
Instacart or Uber?
Uber.
Uber does bonus clawbacks?
Here comes the contract nazi
Honestly, this is not an everyday situation for whoever does your payroll and one of the first things I would do after giving notice is bring up this concern with whoever is responsible for paying you. I would want a paper trail of what they say they are going to do so that if anything doesn't go as planned there is something to point to.
Many companies clawback from the bank account associated with your direct deposit. To prevent this, the best way is to move all your money and close the bank account associated with your direct deposit into a separate account your company does not know about. This will shield you from the actual clawback but you can still get sued by the company.
Can they really just pull money from your account? I can’t imagine this happens
Yes. The ach agreement you sign for direct deposit allows them to directly credit and debit your account.
