Currently working at Amazon, L4 from past 9 months (Not expecting a promotion for at least 2 more years). Received a offer from Oracle, IC2. Confused should I join Amazon considering Amazon stocks going up and my team is well work life balance (6-8 hours daily are sufficient and no weekend work) but promotion cycle is longer. Currently on H1-B visa. Perm application is filled. Could easily take one year I-140 approval and six months minimum requirements. Oracle is currently not sponsorship green card application. Amazon offer New grad offer, 112 base, 26 + 22, 145K stocks (44 unit) TC - Varied from 144 to 175 from 1 to 4 years. Oracle offer 149 base, 20 bonus, 4000 RSU TC first year 229 Second year forward 209.
Go to OCI
You’re joking right?
OCI definitely. Way better pay and likely better wlb/job security. Wlb seems team dependent but a lot of people seem to say it's pretty good. And people go on about oracle lay offs but in my searching (got oci offer also) I haven't seen any evidence oci has been affected much.
How tf did you get 4000 rsus for ic2?
Think that’s pretty standard for IC2 I think. Had the same offer earlier this year
Oci isn’t making any such offers post pandemic. Good for you!
Did u get the offer letter from OCI ?
Yes just a day back. Surprisingly Oracle joining bonus is not prorated.
L4?
When you get promoted you’ll have a base of 144 and a TCT of 191. Let’s assume you get L5 at 2yoe - youll probably be at ~210 TC with stock appreciation. Considering your current tc oracle is giving you a minimum 60k raise (85k for year 1). That’s almost 5k a month post tax addition to your paycheck right now. Personally I’d take that unless I was super happy with my team and growth potential. Edit: one thing to note is you’ll possibly be stuck at OCI for 2 years at least. Might not be great to jump again soon given you only have 9 months of experience
