Honestly, no. It has become commonplace in the Indian community. It doesn't hurt to give though. Also, all of us SHOULD get life insurance outside of our employer benefits so it is immune to any job changes.
He is in a hospital - medically induced coma. Even though he has the funds and resources, he can’t authorize transactions or make payments. He is probably not even aware that his whole family got wiped out.
