I have 3 gym memberships. One normal gym (230/mo), one kickboxing (305/mo), one Muay Thai (300/mo). The office gym is dinky and small and too busy so I got a separate gym membership. I train Muay Thai most seriously but I like the kickboxing gym because I've become good friends with the regulars who go there so I mostly go there to socialize, whereas the people at my Muay Thai gym are not that friendly outside a few people I've met. Per week, I lift weights 3x, do kickboxing 2x, do Muay Thai 4x. But my TC is only 200k. Per year, I save: 10k (from my base) + 30k (RSU) + 12k (bonus) + 22k (maxed out 401k with 50% employer match but discounting by 33% since it's pre-tax) = ~75k. Should I cut down on something?
No and I know it's ridiculous but idk what to cut since I like all 3 gyms.
Wayyy too much unless you have no other discretionary spending
Much better to spend on fitness than eating out or something unhealthy
Spending on fitness and eating out are exclusive. He could be doing both. He could be eating McDonalds after his gym session as well.
True…. But it is less money that is available for op to spend on bad habits. My point is that there are far worse things one could spend their excess funds on
Idk the going rate for Muay thai or kickboxing but whatever gym is charging $230 for a weight room is FLEECING you
Manhattan gyms are just really expensive it seems, I guess to make up for high commercial real estate cost and a lot of people working out at the office or in their apartment gym.
Does the NYC office still have a free gym with weights?
You’re good. I used to make less than you and spend more than that much a month getting bottle service at clubs. I didn’t go broke. You’re obviously making far more constructive decisions. Keep it up.
Bottle service?
Bottle service is a VIP table set aside in a club for people willing to spend a lot of money for a single bottle of alcohol. Think $800 to $1600. Then you are assigned a waitress for drinks (no more going to the bar to order more).
Unless you have a desire to compete, $800/mo on training is ridiculous
why is the normal gym so expensive? i spend like $50/month. find a cheaper one for weights.
Not too much. I paid for a trainer two day per week for years. Beauty isn’t free.
How much is it?
So you don’t actually work at all?
On Tues/Thurs I do kickboxing in the morning then gym at night. On Sat/Sun I do Muay Thai in the noon then gym on one day. Then do Muay Thai on two days of the remaining Mon/Wed/Fri. It's only 1-2 hours a day lol I have time.
So, you aren’t working or showering. Got it
