It's because majority of tech workers realized their money is used to mistreat other tech workers. People are saying no to buying unethical products. Less people are buying Tesla because they are upset about the layoffs and mistreatment of tech workers. Of course there is still the 40% of the people who don't care but the impact is large enough to put his companies in a downward spiral.

There is a limited market for EVs and most early adopters already have one. Regular people don't want shitty build cars which you can't drive more than a few hours at a time.
