Unlike other tech firms HPE seems have a majority of older workers. In my experience it seems like the older employees with a lot of time in the company are hostile to new, younger employees regardless of the experience and knowledge they bring. Thought?
What location are u at?
Houston
Interesting, I'm in Colorado which is a smaller site from what I'm led to believe
I'd agree on the hiring practices
Conway. I'm always the youngest on my team. Sometimes I have issue with people not believing me when I answer something for them. They all know who knows how to fix their PCs though.
I work at the Houston campus as a recent grad and feel as if I am treated differently because I am the youngest on my team by many many years. I believe this negatively affects employee morale and the overall attitude of the department. Generally, I feel older people do not think making work a fun and happy place is important and they also do not collaborate much at all, but that may be because of the cubes (which I also am against). But my bigger issue is that I am on a team of about 100 people and it is very very few women. It is very rare to see a woman in M7 and I am treated as if I'm stupid most of the time.
This has been my experience as well
There are so many things I feel need to be changed about this company in order to be more successful but it seems like they will never stop favoring older people (also weird quiet people) and cubicles for some reason
Some of my most favorite people on my team are the weird quiet people. :-)
Boston, 30 here
In CCA5, decent mix over here. Cubes in Houston are being replaced by open work spaces.
It may be unique to the group/location you belong to within HPE. Our group is fairly young.
