Vanguard or Fidelity

I have my 401k in fidelity and willing to buy index stocks. Learnt through multiple sources that vanguard index stocks are popular compared to fidelity index stocks. Need recommendations on the poll below. TC:150k

Both Vanguard and Fidelity offer comparable low cost index funds. It doesn't matter.

Fidelity has been a bit cheaper for me, but I trust vanguard a lot more.

I use both. I genuinely don't think it matters. Vanguard has been offering low cost index funds for longer. But Fidelity has the better website and support. From a money growth and fund availability standpoint, I hardly think it matters. I personally like that all my assets are not in one place. So if that is something that's important to you, I recommend both companies. I hate Schwab though - easily the worst of the three.

There's virtually no difference between index stops at either brokerage. Both expense ratios will be extremely low (0.01-0.03) and they will both invest in the same stocks

Both offer low cost index funds and brokerage services. I don't like having all my assets with one company, so my 401K and company stocks are with Fidelity and a I have separate IRA and brokerage account with Vanguard.

Why not Merrill?

I use both, don’t want all money in one place.

Don't bother creating a retirement or brokerage account at Vanguard. Fidelity has a much better web and mobile interface for their platform. Vanguard is well known because of the mutual funds and ETFs they offer. In the last few years the other big players (like Schwab and Fidelity) have comparable offerings. If your employer supports it, Fidelity has a Brokeragelink option in their 401k offerings - this allows you to invest in pretty much anything, similar to how an IRA would. So you can pick from Fidelity's zero fee funds (forgot the exact ticker symbol but it's something like FZERO) or whatever vanguard fund you want. You should call Fidelity and ask for this, once it's setup you can transfer cash from the 401k to the tied Brokeragelink account and invest your retirement money in anything you want

I use Fidelity and service is good

People use vanguard for their funds. If you put 10k in a fund it's a little lower rate but only on vanguards brokerage

Vanguard is structured so they won't ever price gouge (the funds own the firm). Fidelity doesn't have this but is currently cheaper + innovates in web design (bc it wants profits)

Vanguard any day .. they have patents which allows them to do few things including things like having equivalent etf and mutual funds
