My wife has a MacBook Pro with 500gb drive. Her mac reports 498 gb in use on the drive. If I open the hard drive, I only see 4 folders whose sizes only add up 286 gb. So how do I find out what is using the other 212 gb of disk space? Thanks

The output from this was unfortunately rather useless. Most of the folders reported garbage even after I ran it with sudo. Too much data to parse through and it takes too long to run.
Empty the trash
