New hire compensation talk at MAN Group - Quant Dev

Goldman has really failed to deliver at my Jan comp talk and now I have the last round interview scheduled with MAN Group for Quant Dev role in their AHL team - equities systematic trading business (or something apparently exact placement decided afterwards). According to the recruiter the money talk precedes the offer and is conducted at the end of the interview. Given that I am actually not too keen to relocate back to London I want to secure myself as good of an offer as I can. I need something in the range of £120k-£130k to get to around the same TC as MUFG is offering me on contract basis. Feels appropriate, but makes me feel a bit indifferent (tired of relocating). How does it look? Don't think more can be reasonably asked for? Recruiter claims first year bonus for decent performance is about 30%. I am not sure what is typical bonus there in latter years. Any thoughts? Tips? I was thinking about trying to get a remote set up or at least split Warsaw / London one. Truth is I do not want to leave GS, but got literally offended in the comp talk and started asking myself the hell I am learning Slang for. Even more so do not want to leave Warsaw. But I do want more money and for good enough offer I might need to. YoE: 8.5 Current role: FO Strat at GS TC: £55k (Poland) Another offer: MUFG quant dev contract TC: £173k (London) My last contract in London: BNP Risk Quant Analyst/Quant Dev TC: £160k #negotiation #finance

So, you want to live in Warsaw, but want London salary? 🤔

Who wouldn't? Ultimately my work is worth the same to the bank whether done in Wsw or Ldn. And at the moment I feel short shanged here. The question is how much I can get out of Man Group to want to move back to London. GS had their chance to get London quality at discount prices and decided they want even cheaper and I'm not having that.

Don't know how it works in contracting world, but you know that in a full-time job, the salary will be comparable to the current location's market salary and cost of living. You should just relocate to London after getting/accepting any job that pays around £180k (and GS does pay that much in London).

For 8.5yoe Id expect closer to 200k TC in London (albeit discretionary bonus)
