How’s the experience to live in and around Jackson, MS? Anyone here from Mississippi? Share your thoughts and experiences…
I used to live there. The suburbs are growing at a decent rate, but the city of Jackson itself has been slowly rotting for the last 50 years. Culturally, there are a few really neat museums and, if you're into it, some world class ballet occasionally.
Why did you move out? What are the concerns one should pay heed to if considering to relocate?
I lived there as a child and moved away to go to college. Didn't move back because I found a better opportunity elsewhere. Probably won't move back anytime soon since I'd have to take a big pay cut and like where I live now more. Crime is a major problem in Jackson and it does spill into parts of the metro area. The good news is traffic is not bad there so commuting in is not an issue. The Gluckstadt area has some nice new neighborhoods, has interstate access, and is about 10-15 minutes from Jackson city limits on a typical day.
Uptown funk.

A cultural and intellectual Mecca, to be sure. The real question is: Are you good enough for Jackson?
