I received two offers after a long struggle and I need some help in making a decision from your experience. Abbott (Full-time): $120K/Yr, Plano, TX (Chance at Full Remote). Working at NM Neuromodulation department providing analysis Samsung (Working full time with Mitchell Martin): $120K/Yr, Plano, TX (Hybrid). Working with application Insights providing analysis. Plenty of opportunities to work on Data Engineering tasks, an area of interest for my future career. Current TC: $110K YOE: 10 Yrs Before you say that's way low pay for my experience, I was an average analyst for 6 Yrs at WITCH and took a lot of effort to get here upskilling and it took quite some time to break out of my shell. And this is me a few months back: https://www.teamblind.com/post/Another-failed-Interview-QonMxVvh #dataanalyst #offer #dataanalytics #dataengineer
Can you elaborate? Is it the work culture or stress?
That's what I heard regarding Samsung as well.
Abbott is stable imo. I see contractors become FTEs here. Plano also has a senior data analyst FTE as well I guess. You may not enjoy work if you are coming from tech world because everything needs to be done excel.
I didn’t come from a very tech background. That was a blocker for me until today to get a new job. I’m more worried about the Teams and work culture. Can you provide any inputs there
Cannot speak for Samsung, I can give you a perspective on Abbott... Work culture is lax with good WLB. The work itself is not very technically and probably spend more time in meetings than doing work. The company is stable but very little upward mobility. Also low raises regardless of performance...
On the other hand Samsung WLB Zia sucks, You will be fine yourself out of the world since 70% workforce is Korean speaking. My personal experience more face value and micromanagement including checking your restroom time while in person in Office.
It’s true there’s a lot of scrutiny at Samsung for spending. I think WLB depends on which department you work in. Samsung does not have a strong collaboration environment, but this is just my experience. I say your choice should come down to the people you’ll be working with. Which team do you think you’ll learn from more? Also, I think it’s reasonable to ask hiring managers more questions before making a decision.
Congrats buddy 👍
Thank you
