New to the Bay area and living in Sunnyvale. Has anyone here delivered at Good Samaritan? Would you recommend it? I found an OBGYN that I like who is affiliated with Good Samaritan but have heard that Stanford is better. Should I choose Stanford instead? (Distance is approximately same from home for both)
I think they have private rooms? I remember facilities being quite good…but el Camino might be closer for Sunnyvale so do consider this..:
Not really pre register that’s all…it was a long time ago though so my memory is hazy😀 Good luck!
We had our baby at Good Samaritan in April. We had a really good experience. All the nurses were great. The one who came for the state genetic test was a real pro. She managed to get the blood sample from baby’s heel, fill all those circles and baby didn’t even cry. The food was also quite decent. The only issue is that they don’t take the baby to the nursery any more at night. I don’t know if that’s specific to this hospital or everywhere.
Thank you! A couple of follow up questions - 1. Did you have to do something special to get private rooms or is that by default for everyone? 2. Did you find any difficulties or hesitation when asking for epidural? 3. Was there any sleeping arrangements in the room for the husband? 4. How many nights did you stay at the hospital? Did you feel like there pressure from the staff to clear up rooms? Thank you so much! Appreciate you sharing your experiences in advance!
1. All rooms are private. They said you might have to share only if there is a sudden rush of patients but that rarely happens. It was pretty empty while we were there. You can get all this info when you do the tour 2. No problems with epidural. Just let them know in advance and discuss with your obgyn of course. There may be some delay in getting it if the anesthesiologist is tied up with another patient 3. There was a couch that opens up into a full bed. A bit narrow but it was okay. You won’t be sleeping much anyway. Food for the husband is free as well. The chicken tikka masala is quite good actually. They come by with snacks in between meals or you can just ask them to bring them. Or you can order food from outside if you want 4. There is no pressure to push you out. Quite the opposite since they make a lot of money for each day you stay. It’s not in their hands anyway. Obgyn and pediatrician have to approve that both are fit to leave. You can stay another day if you want but believe me, you’d want to get home
