Hey, I wanted to know how is the growth in London office of Spotify. I have an offer for BE2(Backend Engineer 2) but I had hoped they would offer Senior software engineer role to me. So before I accept, I wanted to know how is the promotion process inside and if it's bureaucratic enough for me to not bother to consider a BE2 role in the hope that I will be promoted if I perform good. The offer is £95K (base) + $77k(stock) YOE: 5 #career #tech #london

London UK so your listed compensation is in pounds? Seems quite a good salary for UK
Is 95k below senior? That’s a pretty good offer. Most senior engineers don’t make that much at Skyscanner (or most other companies).
Career growth honestly sucks. Everything is a chaos here and its hard to get anything done. If I were you, I'd still make the move since skyscanner is in the travel industry and that vertical is going to take a significant nose dive in the coming months
Hey mate I am currently thinking of applying would you mind if I DM you for a referral?
I do have another offer at Cloudflare for a senior role but with pretty much the same salary. I was wondering if the moving to Spotify makes more sense, since at least in my head, Spotify is a good product I look forward to. Skyscanner is still holding firm but burning cash from the bank to survive. The people are nice. The execs gave voluntary options to reduce working hours instead of forcing everyone to furlough or work 4/3 days. But who knows when will the travel industry rebound back. So I am definitely moving out. Anyways, career growth sucks here at Skyscanner too.
Is this 77k per year?
Over 4 years.
What is BE2?
It's backend engineer 2
Hey, @yhqn04, since you are at Spotify. Can you shed some light on this?
Maybe Backend Engineer 2?
Yep.
What does incentive mean? Is it stock?
Yes.
Is that dollars or pounds?
