Chan Zuckerberg Initiative comp?

Apparently comp structure is: base salary, annual bonus. There is no cash equity or cash bonus component to make up for the lack of stock/RSU equity. - Staff SWE tops out at around ~$350k/yr top of band. - "401k match" is interesting, a 20k match doesn't make up the 300k+ in pay gap. Is this accurate? Anyone know how they close the pay gap? Or is the pay part of the expectation? #CZI Thank you

There is a 12% bonus based on performance, which I think most people generally get. The 401k match is up to the full IRS limit ($23000 in 2024), and there’s another bonus that is $5-15k. But like you mentioned those things are relative small compared to lack of equity component. I’d say that pay is part of the expectation. Work environment is generally laid back, and the goals / objectives aren’t primarily aimed at pleasing investors / stock market, compared to most public companies.

Interesting, thank you. I’ve taken a look at the Engineering prep guide for interviews @ CZI. What is the hiring bar like? Is it closer to Meta/Google or moreso is this person the right fit culturally, skillset for our team? Also, are signing bonuses possible?

Signing bonuses are possible. Bonus target for Staff Eng. is 15%, I think 12% for Sr. Most generally hit the target but 1.5x and 2x are possible. Hiring bar depends on team, role, etc. of course.
