I had 13 total Michelin stars last week, have planned 23 more for the next week, am I overdoing it? Do you like Michelin restaurants? Is top50 better? Only 4 places in these two weeks are on top50, but I have few more waitlisted… Or should I go to Five Guys instead?
I think some top rated restaurants are genuinely tastier than Michelin starred ones. The star requires a host of other things like service, etiquette, plating, etc. other top rated restaurants might fall short on those a bit, but the food actually is as good or better. At the end of the day eat where you actually like the food. Who cares about someone’s award?
I was surprised by one top50 - it seemed like just a good regular place, definitely surpassed by many others - looks like “value” is included…
Why don’t you just call Gordon Ramsey to cook for you every night? I wish I could empathize with this totally relatable experience but unfortunately I only have Michelin class private chefs cook for me every night.
Do you go to these restaurants because you actually enjoy the food and appreciate the factors that contributed to them attaining a star, or do you go just because you know you can afford them and simply want to indulge? Anyway Five Guys is extremely unhealthy so if those are your two options keep eating the more likely healthier option.
I need to eat somewhere, I enjoy the craft and tastes and relationships with staff and chefs. I am not a supertaster and will gladly enjoy “failures”, as long as they’re in good faith. I like going to a place that obtains stars in future - I’ve been to lots of 2/3 star places before they got their stars.
In and Out is the best
Do you stick to the main menu or you go “protein style”? Also, the only way to eat their fries is “animal style”, but even then half goes to 🗑
I do animal style extra tomatoes lettuce and double patties. No drink to save money. Plus French fries.
The lamest humblebrag I’ve seen all month.
Lets puke together.
Any recommendations for NYC?
I love Michelin starred restaurants. Two of my favorites in SF are Gary Danko and Dominique Crenn’s restaurants. I like the beautiful presentation and the interesting food. I probably go to 1-2 a year when I travel, which hasn’t happened for awhile. I have not been to one in over 3 years. I wonder if I’ve changed too much to enjoy them. :/
I had my wedding dinner at Dominique’s!
That’s wonderful! ❤️😍 She is so nice! She has 8 year old twin girls. She signed a personal note for my partners birthday and we even got to see the kitchen. I admit it, we’ve been twice. Manresa in Los Gatos is also very good. It’s kind of a quiet hobby. I don’t tell people. My partner loves to cook and really enjoys trying to make all the recipes/styling of the food when we get home. This is (1) why I am a chubby troll 🧌 and (2) why we go. I like to make my partner smile 😊
I LOVE five guys!
Take the 5 guys to the michelin restaurants. Ask them to make it better. Then make a tiktok video about it.
Covid broke 5G a bit - no more free peanuts!!! I can get infinite artisanal sustainably milled organic sourdough loafs at Michelins!
Honestly, the best foods I had didn't have multiple Michelin stars. Some had 1 star or were just in the guide. (and some not mentioned at all.) Michelin stars are for the whole experience. If food taste is what you are after, probably best to go to popular local restaurants nearby you. Though I haven't had much success in general with restaurants in the Bay Area.
My favorite local next to home walking distance places are in the guide! Either as BG, plate or (*). Obviously, countries without the guide are a different story!
