Just wondering if anyone has rescinded offer after accepting from Meta and did that burn the bridge. Whats the best way to go about it ?
Yes
yea, they still reach out from time to time
Reneging on an offer could damage your relationships with those you've interacted with. While it might not have immediate consequences, there's uncertainty about the long-term impact. The hiring committee could raise concerns if they find a record of your previous reneged offer, potentially leading them to withhold a new offer.
Lets say the offer was for TPM which after accepting going through a shift at meta of tpm to pm. So thats a valid reason to reneg right
It's a big world and it's a big company. Give it a few years and no one will care so long as it's done professionally and promptly (aka not the day before you're due to start).
I reneged on a Bloomberg offer years ago for Google. I have no idea if I was put on some list but I don’t regret the decision at all.
It’s whatever. But not fun.
Ok to renege. It’s all a business. Just like companies payoff people. Just send a polite email with some bs reason for not able to join
Really not a big deal. It hurts the team you matched with a little, but Meta the company doesn’t care at all. It’s a giant soulless corporation who let 10s of thousands of people go without notice. I think you reneging on an offer isn’t so bad in comparison. For reference I’ve reneged on an offer and had the same recruiter reach back out to me a few months later just to see if I’d still consider. At the end of the day the companies want talented people in the door and if you have an offer you’re what they spend so much time and money trying to hire, so don’t worry about timing so much.
What reason had you given when you reneged?
You mean renege on the offer, only the person making the offer can rescind it.
Thank you for correcting
