YOE 6 Got the offers from several companies, currently thinking about these two, both in bay area: Verkada (Senior Eng) $200k with 760k$ options at current valuation over 4 yrs with (10% 20% 30% 40%) schedule no target bonus no signing bonus TC $390 (current valuation)/ 570k (9b)/ 700k (12b) 1.6m (35b) Snap (L5) $200k, $900k RSU over 3 yrs 15% target bonus no signing bonus TC $530k (w/ bonus) Can someone share some thoughts about it, which one is better for the next career step. #snap #verkada
I'd pick Snap. 100k is 100k. More importantly, Verkada is riskier, and you should expect a premium for that, not a pay cut. Not to mention they just had a major crisis.
Choose Verkada, we don't need more amazonians fucking up culture
What position at Snap specifically?
Verkada's vesting seems like a scam. Are you really sure you'll be there for four years?
Snap used to have the same vesting. The last employees to catch that schedule are rolling in cash and worshipping Evan right now. I wish OP same luck.
Average tenure at verkada is less than a year. 10 20 30 40 vesting is a scam, just count the 10 and possibly 20, rest is just numbers
Verkada is a sinking ship
any reason behind it?
That person is going based off news articles. I'm on the sales side. Our end of Q is this week and that will determine where we are really at. We are in line with where we were at other quarters going into the last week of the quarter.
Snap can do a bit more on base
Congratulations OP on those offers. Curious how you got L5 at snap with 6 yrs experience. I mean with 14 yrs experience I failed to crack even L4. Appreciate if you have Any advice on how to get better as a mobile engineer. I know I can't change how smart I'm as that's innate but anything that can be improved by working hard. I'm willing to put effort. It's not just money but working with really smart people is what I'm looking for.
In terms of the interview, I guess L4+ will focus more on the design the previous experience? Besides the LC question and mobile fundamental, understanding the high level architecture and tech decisions of the your current project might be helpful.
Isn't Snap L5 equivalent to G/FB L6? OP, at Snap your scope will be much higher.
Not really, overlap between l5 and l6
Lol... Verkada is a joke. You don't follow news? Cisco/Meraki can easily eat their lunch.
Haha. Nope. Cisco made their money on routers and networking gear. And used that vehicle to sell add on services. Verkadata will have better sales and better flexibility in sales/eng staffing and approach
+1. The sales growth is real. Meraki does not win many deals vs us.

With the Fed not decreasing interest rates any time soon, does anyone else think this isn’t over for Tech layoffs?
What level? Looks like L5 equivalent at Snap.
Yes L5, just updated the post as well.
This is actually very tricky. Verkada has grown well but do you really see them at $35B valuation or even 9B? If not, Snap is a better choice.
