I’ve been trying to pivot to tech for the past year or so and was finally able to get an offer. Now that I have the offer in hand I now have a few concerns and would love some thoughts: base slightly lower than what I am currently making, TC slightly higher, would need to relocate. Essentially, is a lateral move in comp / relocating worth doing to get into tech and start building up from there? I am really torn on this because I’be been trying to break into tech and after ~15 interview processes (4 of which went to case study rounds), I was finally able to get an offer. Problem is that it’s just not in line with my comp expectations. I’m prolly leaving out important info so happy to answer q’s. Current TC: 110; HCOL New TC: 115; MCOL

Are they paying relocation? For what it’s worth. I did a career change to tech, but almost 1.5 years later while learning a ton of relevant skills, I’ll take them back to my original career, move to an MCOL and enjoy job stability. I got a 30k bump in pay and worked full-remote. But man the stress and job hunting was wild. In that 1.5 years, I watched 3 rounds of layoffs. In my old career over 5 years, didn’t see a single person laid off.
Yes, included it in TC. This is after negotiating btw. Are you saying you would go back to your old role for the stability?
How much is actual comp excluding relo? I’m saying I’m actively applying to roles in my old career. I’ll go from about 135k in Seattle to about 105k in Kansas.
