Dhruv Rathee speaks lies about Ch. Shivaji Maharaj
I buy my gas from Costco mostly, or Arco if I need gas and no Costco nearby. I drive by Shell and Chevron and see the ridiculous price they charge for gas and I'm always amazed that they even have customers. Yeah this is a tech forum and we could all afford to pay triple for gas and not change our lifestyles, but why overpay? And many of those people lining up to over pay must not be rolling in tech comp. What gives?
Those who don't want to wait for 15 mins in line or those who need to fill gas after 9pm will avoid Costco. Arco is shit. If you drive an early 00's Corolla it might not make a difference. But for performance cars it makes sense to put Shell or Chevron. Also the 5-10 cents saved can be earned as reward points or cash back at other gas stations as Arco won't accept credit cards and charge fee for debit cards.
All gas stations in US have to pass a minimum quality test. Just because Arco is cheap does not mean it is shit. What’s the guarantee that paying higher for gas at Chevron gets you better gas? I think Gas is a commodity. Always buy the cheapest one !
Gas is same everywhere. Additives added to the base gasoline will help to get better performance.
That is no longer true that you will get better performance with additives. It was true in the 1970s. No longer. There are regulations on the additives now that eliminated any differences.
Because I pay for convenience. I'm not going to go out of my way to buy gas.
I don’t get Costco gas because I don’t have a membership. I don’t want to get a membership because, being single with my lifestyle shopping at Costco makes no sense. And the long lines at both Costco checkout and gas fill up lines.
I used to fill up at shell because it was conveniently located. But now I got a Costco membership and the gas savings alone pay for the membership and more.
Some people value their free time and don’t want to spend 15 mins to save $5 a tank. I look at Costco people and I see a lot of broke people and people who can’t do basic math on the value of time.
I typically wait no more than 2min at Costco and I fill up on weekends. If it's a holiday weekend sure. Otherwise I don't find there are long lines. If there are, there's Arco.
Exactly. How can you even plan for just fueling your car? Save 5$ a month .. and compensate for a coffee you buy ? I'm sure a lot of people would hesitate to pay 3$ for an app on play store.
I rarely have to wait in line. It's on my way to and from work. The savings is 50-60 cents per gallon. (Costco) With Costco, I never bother with Arco. I have kids and Costco makes sense for us.
Costco gas caused havoc to my Audi. Never again. Chevron/ Shell only for my Audi.
BS, there would be a massive class action lawsuit against Costco and Arco if this was true. It's not true. The additives are regulated and the underlying gas comes from the same pipeline.
You’re so confident about that, but something tells me you don’t actually know that for a fact. You’re making a lot of assumptions that just because there are “regulations”, things are in fact the same.
If you have to fill up at Costco pick the smart times. Early mornings or late evenings. Don't wait in the line like a lamb
I heard Arco gas is horrible for your car and would do damage.
You heard wrong
no they didnt
