I have following offer from SF, Base - 75L Bonus - 15% of base Stocks - 220k over 4 years Have received an L63 offer from msft with much lower numbers; Base - 53L Bonus 0-30% Stocks - 140k over 4 years I have around 9 years of experience. Not within uber presently. I am highly interested in msft but numbers are quite low. Is there a scope of negotiations on any components ? PS - Not sure why msft is not considering my counter offer from SF.
Sounds kind of a no brainer to join MSFT. Money trumps everything at this point.

Take Salesforce LMTS which maps to 64-65 TC and scope wise. L63 is not treated as a senior by management. Scope is lesser than that of 5a.
How difficult it’s to internally promote to l64?
Depending on the team and GEM. On average 2 years, can be more as well. I can see that you are convincing yourself to join MSFT even at a lower level and TC. 63 <<<<< 5a If you are thinking about stability, that will only be there at the cost of 50% TC of top payers in the market. Whoever are still there after the cliff in MS, they have accepted their TC in the range of 50-60% what top paying market offers.
Salesforce wont give u any stock refresher .. so if u stick beyond 2 years msft will be better
Msft in this time. At l63 Max. At 9 year experience don't join msft. Complete 10 year and come at principal engineer.

Been there at same position like you 3 years back, took MS, my comp didn’t level to SF even after 3 years, their stock did well too. You cannot negotiate with MS, they will outrightly say this is what our package is, it is upto you to decide, even if you pull off you cannot reach any where that.(been there), there were many conversations in town halls that counter offers won’t be considered. One more thing the tax perks MS is not great so the in hand will be less. Why are you inclined to MS? Which team? Also which team in SF? PS: MS offer of 53 base pay for 63, I have seen ppl having 60L. Remember the hikes at MS won’t be great, varies between 8 to 10 percent, so to get to 64 it will take 2 to 3 years so do yourself the math. Question is will reach SF level in MS in the next 2 or 3 years? I highly doubt. Also take note of bonus in MS, the variable pay is 30 but if you get 20 percent then you pulled really really great in terms of performance. so remove 10 percent from the total. Also the insurance is very basic, have to pay 20 to 25k for family. Man the numbers will look much bad when you get. Trust me, I have been there. Whether SF gives stock refreshers or not is not a decision factor because your joining stock is really high compared to MS, even it will take another 2 years match the SF again refreshers in MS based on performance, if you hit above average then 35k per year.
