May have an offer soon from Axon, seems there are mixed reviews for working there and not much information on the mechanical teams. Wondering what the work life balance is like, hours worked, culture etc. #axon #mechanical #engineering #culture
Axon employees: were you ever pressured to get Tased? https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/axon-taser-exposures/
I interviewed there once. Very weird culture
Weird how?
Recruiter was aggressively getting me scheduled, even though I wasn’t super interested. I wasn’t interested because the first “round” of interview was with the recruiter himself, who asked questions like “what is a database”. When I went for the interview, I was kept waiting outside for quite some time, and then immediately asked a technical question by the interviewer as soon as I got in. This was an onsite interview for which I declined travel and lodging because I actually managed to squeeze interviews for multiple companies together at the same time. He was remarkably cold from the get-go. I kept getting this uncomfortable feeling that I’m not supposed to be there, that there was a glitch somewhere. I did a really good job solving that technical problem. Till date, I recall it as one of my best performing interviews. It was a good question, but way too complex for the kind of work they’d be doing. As soon as I was done with that one round over one hour, I was promptly escorted out. I never heard back from anyone. Even after contacting them. There didn’t seem to be any racial diversity in the company. I just saw a sea of white people- very odd for Seattle tech industry.
